Ovation Performing Arts Northwest is excited to announce our first main stage production since 2020: the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic, “The Sound of Music”! The show is directed by Lisa Mandelkorn, with music direction by Chris DiStefano, and will run the first two weekends in December at the Bainbridge High School theatre.

Based on the memoirs of the real Maria von Trapp, “The Sound of Music” is set in 1930s Austria during the time of the Anschluss and tells the story of Maria, a young novice uncertain of her vocation as a nun. When she takes a position as governess to a family of seven with a gruff widowed father, she discovers where her heart really lies. But there's danger on the horizon when Captain von Trapp is ordered to join the Nazi navy.

With classic songs like “Do-Re-Mi”, “Edelweiss”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, and “My Favorite Things”, this show will leave you with a smile on your lips and the sound of music in your heart. We'll have a lot more to share between now and opening night, so stay tuned!
